Wajo Sutera (Silk) Is Displayed At The MSME Exhibition, The Vice President Gives Praise

Makassar (ANN) | Silk woven fabrics typical of Wajo Regency were displayed at the MSME exhibition visited by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin on the 1st floor of the South Sulawesi Governor’s Office, Monday (31/1/22).
At this MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) exhibition, there are four that are displayed. Respectively, silk woven fabrics from Wajo, chocolate candy products from North Luwu, Konjo roof crafts from Bulukumba, silver crafts from Makassar.
In addition, there are products from CV. Coconut International Indonesia, namely nipah tea, herbal sanrego, briquettes and tuning sugar.
Ma’ruf Amin, who was accompanied by the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, seemed to pay attention to the typical product of South Sulawesi.
Including Wajo silk woven fabric which has its own pattern. When delivering his remarks, the former General Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), specifically expressed his praise for the development of MSMEs in South Sulawesi.
Moreover, MSMEs in South Sulawesi experienced a significant increase. Based on data from the Department of Cooperatives and MSMEs in South Sulawesi Province, in 2019 there were more than 940 thousand business units, then to around 1.2 million in 2020, and the number increased again to 1.5 million business units in 2021.
“I see that this portrait of MSMEs in South Sulawesi Province is very encouraging,” said the Vice President while chairing the Public Service Mall Socialization Meeting and MSME Empowerment in the Leadership Meeting Room of the South Sulawesi Governor’s Office, Monday (31/1/2022).
Meanwhile, when contacted via telephone, the Regent of Wajo, Amran Mahmud, was very happy if the Wajo Silk woven fabric product was selected to be displayed at the UMKM exhibition which was visited by the Vice President directly.
“Of course we are very happy, because this is also in line with the efforts of the Wajo Regency Government to restore the glory of silk. Moreover, the South Sulawesi Provincial Government is very supportive of our steps so far,” said Amran Mahmud.
Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Wajo, Amran, who directly attended the visit of the Vice President, greatly appreciated and thanked the South Sulawesi Provincial Government for the trust given to Wajo to display his silk products.
“We are also grateful for the permission of the Vice President to visit the Wajo silk stand that we have prepared,” said Amran when confirmed separately after Ma’ruf Amin’s visit. (Takbir)
