PWRI also has a commitment to develop Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) programs. Because, according to him, MSMEs are the pillars of the national economy that must be developed, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, where the economic foundations have collapsed due to the impact.
“PWRI also continues to encourage the national economic recovery program, through the development of MSMEs. Later, we will provide education to MSME actors to develop their business, both in terms of the quality of production, packaging, management strategies and marketing,” he said.
“There are many business opportunities that we can explore. PWRI must be able to appear in front. Later we can provide training or whorkshop SMEs, how to manage the MSME business, so that our MSMEs can go up a class and be accepted by the market. Later, we will collaborate with experienced mentors,” he said.
Journalist professionalism During the visit, apart from sharing knowledge about MSMEs, Jagad also emphasized the importance of the professionalism of journalists, especially PWRI members. Jagad said that in the midst of the rapid growth of the media, especially online media, journalists or journalists need to equip themselves with sufficient knowledge to support their professional duties, so that they are able to identify related problems that have news value, are able to analyze information (facts and data), present and determine the policy and direction of the news. Jagad said that the development of information and communication technology has been integrated into social life, so that it is easier for people to obtain information.
“As a profession, journalists in every journalistic activity are required to have high awareness, must have self-perception, namely that high awareness can be achieved if they have adequate skills, skills and knowledge in carrying out their professional duties. It is not easy to be a professional journalist,” he said.
Jagad continued, in the perspective of journalism, professional journalists are journalists who uphold the journalistic code of ethics, one of which is upholding moral ethics. In addition to the journalistic code of ethics, journalists in their work must be oriented to 5 W + 1H, and the Press Law no. 40 of 1999.
“Professional journalists must also be able to build an atmosphere when dealing with resource persons by understanding the material that will be submitted to the resource persons and having accurate information on the issues to be explored, meaning that journalists must be able to adapt when dealing with resource persons by understanding the content presented. will be submitted to the informant, and have accurate information on the problem to be explored.
Equipping oneself with sufficient knowledge is one of the keys,” said the founder of a number of national media. Equally important, said Jagad, in working journalists must be independent, capable of producing accurate and balanced news.
In addition to obeying the journalistic code of ethics which is the basis or guide, a journalist must be able to maintain public trust, and be able to produce good, inspiring and educative journalistic work. “A journalist must be able to produce accurate news and not behave badly towards the source person, and be aware of legal ethics in carrying out journalistic activities.
Professional journalists must cross backgrounds, all must be able to, and must be able to understand all types of news. If the journalist’s work is occupied or inspired, there will be no problems,” he concluded. [ Diana ]
